The God factor in Tobi Amusan’s sterling career and world record feat
How much of God factor is involved in Tobi Amusan’s recent performance which landed her in glory land as the 100m Hurdles world record holder.
Pretty much. Here’s how much Amusan gets God involved in her career, training and performance. She invoked the God factor several times in this brief post-race interview.
It’s been a journey and I’m thankful to God for keeping me healthy and I’m even more thankful to have come out here with a win and a world record.
Coming out here, I knew it was a very competitive field, so the goal was to execute and see myself in the finals, and seeing the world record I had to keep my composition for my fans.
The goal was to first cross the line, but then when I woke up this morning, I told my coach my legs were heavy and she said my mind was just playing with me and I was ready to go.
I came out, trusted my hard work and that God is in control, and I kept saying to myself, just breathe it’s just another competition.
I’ve been that almost girl in every championship and finally, God did it.
It’s a blessing coming out here to showcase our talent. We’re a very big country and the few of us who have the talent come out to showcase our talent and use it to the glory of God. I’m thankful that we have 2 medalists this time from Nigeria.
Once I’m healthy, I’m confident I can do anything and I just try to stay calm because usually I try to pressurise myself going into competitions because I put a lot of expectations on myself, knowing how much work I’ve put in, but this time just said breathe out fine and let God do His thing.
