FRSC warns motorists against use of unauthorised number plates

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, has warned leadership of political parties to prevail on their supporters to get their campaign vehicles properly licensed and registered.
Mr Clement Oladele, Ogun Sector Commander, FRSC, gave this warning in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Ota.
The sector commander warned motorists against indiscriminate use of unauthorised vehicle number plates.
Oladele said FRSC had noticed a new trend in the state where motorists engage in indiscriminate use of unauthorised vehicle number plates, in addition to violating traffic rules and regulations.
According to him, the practice poses serious threat to national security.
“We enjoin the leadership of political parties to prevail on their supporters to get campaign their vehicles properly licensed and registered.
“The vehicles must also be driven in line with extant traffic regulations.
“We also appeal to them to desist from overloading as well as engage in dangerous driving,’’ the sector commander said.
Oladele, however, implored motorists to process original copies of their driving licenses from the appropriate channels as the commission would not treat cases of invalid licenses lightly.
He said the FRSC patrol team would start to arrest any vehicle with photocopied driving license and vehicles without appropriate vehicle number plates.
“Those traffic offenders will be prosecuted in pursuant to Sections 10(2)(d) and 10(4)(F) of the FRSC Establishment Act 2007,” he said.
Oladele, therefore, admonished motorists to adhere strictly to the directive in order not to face full wrath of the laws.
