Four Nigerians Win in British Parliamentary Election
The nation’s battered international image got a few stiches for a patch up as four Nigerians who contested for various seats to represent different counties in UK’s parliament won their elections. Three of them contested on the platform of Labor party while one contested on the platform of the Tories flag.
Helen Grant born September 28 1961 in Willesden London, a British Conservative Party politician and solicitor won her election.
She is the current Member of Parliament for Maidstone and The Weald in Kent and the current Minister for Sport, Tourism & Equalities .
A much younger Chuka Harrison Umunna born on the 17th of October 1978 , a British Labour party politician who has served as member of parliament in 2010 won the elections to represent Streatham.
Kate Osamor, the daughter of Marhta Osamor, a Nigerian Born labour party activist in the late 80’s who was deprived of a chance to represent Labour when a by-election was called for due to the resignation of the MP for Vauxhall in 1989 ,won the seat for Edmonton in North London while, Chi Onwurah a Labour Part politician born April 12 1965 in Wallsend, won the seat for New Castle upon Tyne Central.
