Five Policemen Feared Killed, Woman Police Slumps At Polling Station in Ogun State
Pandemonium broke out at one of the polling units at Ibara Housing estate, Abeokuta in the Ogun State after a fleeing party faithful, who was trying to escaped arrest, rammed into a Police patrol van with five Policemen on board feared killed.
This is even as a woman Police officer allegedly slumped at her duty post in the same Ogun State, following exhaustion after a long wait for voters under the sun to complete accreditation. The woman was later discovered to be carrying a three months old pregnancy.
The Police spokesperson in Ogun State, Muyiwa Afolabi, confirmed the incident adding that the woman Police officer, whose name was yet to be revealed has since been revived. “She was revived back to life within 20 minutes. However, she has been rushed to the hospital for further medical attention,” Afolabi stated.
He added that the five Policemen involved in the accident have also been taken to a General Hospital located in Ibara Housing estate in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital. “I can’t say anything about their condition presently. They are in the intensive care unit of the Hospital right now, I would not be able to say, whether they would make it or not. But we would keep praying for them.”
It was gathered that, the fleeing party agent was escaping an arrest from another Police team at the Car Wash, Adatan area of the state capital. “He was sighted carting away election materials at a polling station in the Adatan part of Abeokuta, and Policemen pursued him and he was fleeing in his vehicle, when he crashed into the stationary Police vehicle at the Ibara Housing estate,” Afolabi added.
He added that the alleged party agent died on the spot and that his corpse has been deposited in the Ibara Housing estate General Hospital mortuary.
