Exclusive: ISWAP declares war on Christians, set to launch more attacks in FCT
A Security Alert sent from the office of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, FCT Command, to the Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, dated 8 July, 2022, has raised the alarm on the declaration of war against Christians in Nigeria by Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP.
The Security Alert titled: Renewed Threat of Attack by ISWAP Terrorists on Targets Within the FCT- said “certified intelligence has revealed that members of ISWAP have concluded plans to launch more coordinated and spontaneous attacks on selected targets within the FCT.”
The alert letter said the aim of the ISWAP group is to hibernate in strategic places and plan further attacks on already determined targets.
ISWAP had on Tuesday attacked Kuje Custodial centre and effected the escape of over 800 inmates including 64 Boko Haram members . President had following the Kuje prison attack, held a security meeting with service chiefs and other stakeholders.
ISWAP, having claimed responsibility for the Kuje prison attack, announced in a viral video that they were going to attack more centres and facilities.
Meantime, Mr Muhammad Sanyinna, the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Abia, says adequate arrangements had been put in place for a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir festival in the state.
Sanyinna made the disclosure in a statement issued on Sunday in Umuahia by the command’s Spokesman, SC Ndukwe Agu.
He stated: “I have directed the Heads of Operations, Rapid Response and Tactical Teams to adequately deploy operatives to strategic locations in the state.
“They are also to increase motorised patrol to ensure a hitch-free Sallah celebration.”
The state NSCDC boss advised Muslim faithful in the state to be vigilant and law abiding during the celebration.
He also urged them to observe the festival with prayers for the nation’s continued unity, peace and security.
Sanyinna, who assumed office in Abia on July 2, gave assurance that he would sustain the existing synergy between the command and relevant security agencies in the state.
