Enugu LG Poll; Police arrest four, investigate explosion
The Police Command in Enugu State on Sunday, said it arrested four persons during the Saturday local government election in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the election was conducted simultaneously in the 17 council areas and 261 political wards in state.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Command, SP Ebere Amaraizu, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu.
Amaraizu said the command had also commenced investigation into the two minor explosions that occurred during the election in the outskirts of Enugu.
He, however, said that the command had no record of loss of life or anybody or group coming to report any incident of death as a result of the election.
“There is no loss of any life in the period of the exercise throughout the state.
“Four persons were arrested at Obeagu Amechi in Awkunanaw community within Enugu South Local Government Area, following the explosion in the community far from any polling centre.
“They are helping the operatives in their investigations.
“The explosion at the coal camp axis of the state in the morning of Nov. 4, before the election took place at a spare parts workshop by the entrance of the road.
‘’The road leads to the polling station but the incident never interfere with the electoral activities,’’ he said.
