Emir Sanusi admits spending N3.4 billion in less than three years
The Emirate Council of Kano State has dismissed spending N6 billion of the Emirate’s money but admitted to have spent N3.4 billion since Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II took over office in June 2014.
Addressing a press conference in Kano on Monday, the senior council official in charge of finance, Bashir Wali, who doubles as the Walin Kano, told journalists that the emirate had only spent N3.4 billion.
Wali further made some details available on the expenditure and revealed that the Emir inherited N2.9 billion (exactly N2.895,165,43.77) and not N4 billion as stated in some media reports.
The Emir had been enmeshed in a controversy and verbal exchanges with some political elite from the North more from his criticism of the style of governance and the underdevelopment of the North by successive Northern leaders. He was accused of living an ostentatious lifestyle in the midst of poverty of his subjects.
