DSS releases Chocolate City founder, Audu Maikori
Chocolate City founder, Audu Maikori, has been released by the Department of State Services (DSS). It is not clear if he would still be charged to court as originally planned by Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai.
This was confirmed by his personal assistant, Edward Israel-Ayide, via his Twitter page.
He wrote: “Thanks everyone for#FreeAudu He’s been released.”
Maikori was picked up by DSS operatives on Friday in Lagos over his comments on the Southern Kaduna crisis and reportedly flown to Abuja.
On Saturday, Former Minister of Education, Madam Oby Ezekwesili, revealed that Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, was planning to take him to court on Monday before she intervened.
Ezekwesili, in a series of tweets posted on Saturday, also said she had pleaded with El-Rufai to accept Maikori’s apology for posting false information about the Southern Kaduna crisis online.
Two weeks ago, Maikori apologized to the College of Education in Gidan-Waya, Kaduna and the Kaduna State Government, for sending out false information about an attack on the school.
