DSS Quits former NSA’s House, Seizes His Passport As South Africa Returns Seized Cash
After more than 24hours of siege, the Federal Government has ordered the withdrawal of the State Security Service (SSS) personnel from the Abuja home of the immediate past National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
Meantime, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised the invasion of Dasuki’s home, saying it is contrary to democratic ideals as there was no legal order warranting such intrusion to the privacy of a Nigerian citizen. Some Nigerians have also queried the propriety of the action, insisting it was a disgrace on the security of the nation and a clear attempt to demystify and bring that office to disrepute.
But Dasuki has vowed to seek legal redress to enforce his fundamental human rights.
The security operatives were said to have seized his International Passports and other vital documents.
Even though there is no more restriction of his movement, Dasuki still feel aggrieved that he was deprived of performing his religious obligation of attending the Eid Prayers, marking the end of Ramadan Fasting.
Meanwhile, it has been gathered that legal and diplomatic processes initiated by the former National Security Adviser have ensured that cash seized by the South African government during the cash for arms saga last year has been fully recovered by Nigeria.
It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration was forced to resort to the alternative market to obtain arms when western powers blocked every access to the formal arms market but the cash were seized both at the airport and in the bank.
