Don’t Use Us for Your Campaigns, PFN Tells Politicians
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has warned politicians to stop using its name or members to campaign for votes at either the Osun polls or any other political election in the country. The association said that it had observed with concern, the recent behaviour of some politicians in the country, particularly in Osun State, who were “taking delight in the name-dropping” of some of its members in their election campaigns.
The National President of PFN, Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude, in a press statement signed by his media aide, Deacon Raphael Okhiria, said that PFN members had no reason to support one political party or candidates of political parties against the others because the group had a duty to remain neutral in all partisan political activities, whether at the local, state or federal levels.
Rev. Omobude, therefore, urged politicians to “stop dragging PFN and its members into their political campaigns.
The cleric, however, called on Christians to continue to ignore attempts by some politicians to confuse them about who to vote for during elections.
He said, “The PFN and its members are non-partisan and as such should not be dragged into politics directly or indirectly.
“I call on all Christians in Nigeria to continue to freely vote for the candidates of their choice because the PFN and its leadership have no preferred candidates.”
