Done! Prince Harry and Meghan are husband and wife; 15ft-veil wedding dress by Givenchy
Meghan Markle has married Prince Harry in a moving and modern service that saw the newlyweds sharing tears, laughter and a passionate kiss in front of their thousands of adoring guests.
Harry looked delighted as he walked his new wife out of St George’s Chapel but had been visibly emotional when he saw his bride for the first time in her simple but beautiful pure white dress and then grabbed his bride’s hand and told her: ‘You look amazing – I missed you’.
He also said ‘thank you, pa’ after his father Prince Charles walked her down the aisle. But the tears turned to laughter when the star made him giggle as they exchanged vows before being pronounced man and wife by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby as millions watched around the world.
And on the steps of the chapel Meghan asked her new husband discreetly: ‘Do we kiss?’ and Harry whispered ‘yeah’ before planting one passionately on her lips. Celebrity royalty including the Clooneys, the Beckhams, Idris Elba, Elton John and Oprah Winfrey watched them marry. Britain’s royals including the Queen and Prince Philip were also there to support them.
Meghan Markle has surprised everyone by wearing a wedding dress designed by Givenchy’s Clare Waight Keller after months of speculation liking her to other designers, such as Erdem. The pure white dress features a five-metre train and has been made from bonded silk, with a graphic open bateau neckline and slender sculpted waist, teamed with a 15ft veil embroidered with flowers of the Commonwealth.
Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland proudly stood with senior members of the Royal Family on the steps of St George’s Chapel Saturday after watching her daughter marry Prince Harry. Miss Ragland, who flew over from Los Angeles for the wedding in Windsor, stood with Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
