CPC destroys adulterated food items worth N2m in Jigawa

The Jigawa Consumer Protection Committee (CPC) says, it has destroyed adulterated food items worth N2 million in Babura Local Government Area of the state.
The committee’s spokesman, Alhaji Habibu Yusuf, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Dutse.
Yusuf explained that the items included hibiscus flower drink, popularly called “Zobo,” sesame seeds and millet.
He said the items destroyed were confiscated from traders when the committee paid unscheduled visits to Babura and Gumel markets on Nov. 14.
He explained that the sesame was adulterated with sharp sand, millet with sawdust and hibiscus flower with rice tusk.
He said Abdallah assured that the committee would not relent in its effort to stop the circulation of unwholesome and fake products in the state.
The chairman added that any trader found perpetrating the act would face the wrath of the law. (NAN)
