COVID-19: 210 deported Almajiri Children test negative, reunite with families in Kaduna
The Kaduna State government says 210 Almajiri children deported from Kano, Gombe, and Plateau States have tested negative to COVID-19 after being quarantined for 14 days.
The Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development Hafsat Baba disclosed this during the hand over of the children to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Governments.
According to her, the Almajiri children have reunited with their families in Kaduna State and will be returned to school where they will continue their education in their localities.
She however reiterated the commitment of the State Government to the education of the children, promising that while the current Tsangaya system is to be abolished, the children will continue with their Qur’anic studies in parallel with western education.
