…As gov. woos indigenes to invest

…Reels out achievements, says State is secure

As the nation continues to address the ongoing challenges of insecurity across various states, investing in security and infrastructure has emerged as a crucial catalyst for the growth and development of all sectors of the  economy.

Following the clarion call by the government of Anambra State, it has taken the bull by the horn and restates  its ready for investments in all sectors.

The five solution agenda of the Anambra State government highlights its readiness to attract investment from indigenes both at home and in the diaspora.

This agenda includes: security, economic transformation, human capital development, governance, and environmental sustainability.

By focusing on these key areas, the government aims to make Anambra a preferred destination for investment and development, while leveraging the contributions of its indigenes worldwide.

Speaking at an event in Lagos on Sunday, tagged:’Homeland Consciousness, for the love of Anambra State’, the State governor, Charles Soludo said, with the State’s Masterplan ready, his government is ensuring a working system.

Security Law and Order

Wooing the indigenes who graced the occasion to invest in their homeland, the governor said peace and security is now set to return to the State. “We had eight Local Government Areas that were under security threat when I became governor, but today that is in the past”.

While appealing to the indigenes to look and think home when investing, he encouraged them to contribute to the Security Trust Fund of the State and also see reasons to establish the head quarters of their businesses in the State in other to support its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) which would in turn help in the development of communities and job creation.

He also highlighted Anambra’s infrastructure and economic transformation agenda, positioning it to compete with Lagos as an A list State as the State recently attracted over $500 million in investment commitments, focusing on sectors like healthcare, tourism, and infrastructure.

War on drugs and other crimes

The governor emphasised that the clamp down on native doctors is a fight against criminals in disguise who perpetrate their evil acts, working for ‘Yahoo boys’ and other criminals.

“There is freedom of worship, but your freedom should not interfere with the rights of others”. He further stated that any person found placing charms or sacrifice on the road will face the law.

“For those peddling hard drugs, though this is a federal crime, we have domesticated it under the property offence law of the State.

The way forward

“We are building a new drugs market for those selling pharmaceutical drugs which will be the best in Africa.”

“It has become imperative that we begin to redirect some of our investments to our homeland to further engender developments, poverty reduction and greater prosperity in our various localities ”

Soludo however, assured the indigenes that the States safe for investment and his government is ready to work with them to better improve the standard of living of the people of the State.
