December 25, 2017
The wife of the Oyo state governor, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, today presented cash and gift items to the first and second babies that were delivered in Government-owned hospitals in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two babies, both female, weighed 3kg and 3.2 kg, and were delivered between 9:00 and 11:00 hrs, respectively.
The first baby was delivered at the new Adeoyo Hospital, Ring Road, while the second baby was delivered at the Jericho Nursing Home, both in Ibadan.
Presenting the gifts to the mothers and their children, Mrs Ajimobi said that the gesture was part of celebrating the birth of Christ, which also symbolises sharing and giving.
Represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Atinuke Oshunkoya, the governor’s wife urged the women to always trust God and put their hopes in him.
“I want to encourage us to share love with the people, especially today; we should also put our hope in God and look up to a fulfiling 2018, as we continue to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ,’’ she said.
Mrs Ajimobi admonished the parents of the babies to train and teach their children the ways of the Lord.
The parents, Mrs Oluwadamilola Adetimileyin, (27) and Mrs Bolanle Ogidan, (30), thanked the governor’s wife for the gesture, adding that they were both overwhelmed.
“I did not know that the baby will come today. I was at the vigil and did not prepare at all but God used the Matron and the staff on duty at the Maternity Ward to bless me.
“I want to also thank the staff for their support ,’’ Adetimileyin said.
The Chief Nursing Officer at the Adeoyo Hospital, Mrs Elizabeth Oluronbi, lauded the gesture and prayed that the state will continue to witness more peace and development under the Ajimobi administration.
