In a bid to boost economic development and foster a sense of community responsibility, the Anambra State government, under Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has initiated a homeland consciousness campaign.

This initiative aims to rally indigenes both at home and in the diaspora to redirect investments towards their homeland, thereby promoting sustainable development and prosperity in the State.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, Senior Special Adviser and Liaison Officer Leo Chiegboka emphasised that the event, scheduled for Sunday, March 2, 2025, is part of the Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP) initiative, also known as the ‘Solu Dozie’ Anambra initiative.

This effort seeks to unite Anambra people globally and encourage community development through insightful conversations about the state’s future.

According to Chiegboka, the initiative aligns with Governor Soludo’s broader vision to transform Anambra into a preferred place to live, invest, and work, as highlighted in his recent development plans focusing on security, infrastructure, and economic transformation.

He highlighted the need for Anambra indigenes to reassess their investment priorities, often criticised for developing other regions at the expense of their own.

He noted, “Charity begins at home,” emphasising the importance of redirecting some investments to Anambra to drive further economic empowerment, infrastructure development, poverty reduction and greater prosperity in Anambra communities.

The initiative aims to strengthen bonds among Anambra people, harness collective resources, and create pathways for sustainable development, particularly in the era of technological advancements like Artificial Intelligence (AI).

“It is a time for insightful conversations- conversations that will shape the future of our homeland and reinforce our shared identity, commitment and responsibility as people of Anambra, both in Lagos, at home and in the diaspora,” Chiegboka said.

“Therefore, it has become imperative for us to introspect and reevaluate that tendency in view of the present political reality and for our greater good”.

Discussions during the event will focus on critical aspects of the state’s progress, including economic empowerment, investment opportunities, and the role of stakeholders in the Anambra project.

Governor Soludo is expected to attend the event, which promises to be a call to action for active participation and involvement of indigenes in shaping the future of their homeland.

Chiegboka however, urged all sons and daughters of Anambra, especially those in Lagos and the diaspora, to prioritise attendance and contribute to the state’s development.
