Buhari orders probe of Osinbajo chopper crash; PDP thanks God
President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered a thorough investigation of the circumstances that led to crash of a helicopter ferrying Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to Kogi State. The rented chopper crash-landed in Kabba but no life was lost.
It was the second time in barely 8 months that the Vice President’s chopper would crash-land, the first was last year on the outskirts of Abuja on his way for an assignment at Nigerian Customs facility.
Investigations would try to establish why the Presidency had to rent a chopper in spite of options to use choppers belonging to the Presidency, the Air Force or the police. It would also establish whether the chopper was certified air-worthy by the relevant authorities and personnel.
Meanwhile the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has thanked God for the safety of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, members of his entourage and the crew, after the Saturday helicopter crash in Kabba, Kogi.
The party in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Olognondiyan, expressed shock over the crash of the helicopter.
PDP, however, called for a thorough investigation into the traumatic incident, adding that the safety of our leaders, and of course, all Nigerians, must be guaranteed, especially at this critical time.
“The PDP urges all Nigerians irrespective of creed, ethnicity and political affiliation, to continue to pray for God’s continued intervention in our national life,” it stated.
