Buhari nominates two Justices of Supreme Court, seeks Senate’s confirmation
As two justices of the Supreme Court battle to save their names in the ongoing investigation of alleged cases of bribery and corruption, President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Sidi Bage and Paul Jauro as Justices of the Supreme Court, the Senate confirmed receipt of the request Tuesday.
The letter of nomination was read Tuesday by Senate President Bukola Saraki at plenary.
The President’s nomination flows the imminent retirement of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mahmud Mohammed.
Two justices of the Supreme Court were accused of corruption by the secret intelligence agency, the DSS, which claimed it found a huge amount of cash in the homes of the justices and other judges.
