Buhari hosts Zuckerberg in Aso Rock, receives special gift from the Facebook CEO
Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg flew from Kenya and made a return trip to Nigeria this time to Abuja where President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday received him and his team at the Presidential Villa. Recall that the founder of Facebook had flown into Lagos unannounced on Tuesday where he had meetings with App developers, entrepreneurs and sundry ICT professionals.
He left Lagos Wednesday for Kenya where he also met with the country’s teeming ICT community and promoters of Kenya’s mobile money market, a product that stood Kenya out as an emerging ICT power house out of Africa.
The meeting in Aso Rock was held behind closed door inside the President’s office.
After the meeting, Zuckerberg alongside Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo attended a programme in the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.
A post on the Facebook wall of presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, said the President was presented with Facebook drone prototype by the chief executive officer of the global social media platform.
While in Lagos, Zuckerberg complimented the passion of Nigerians in the area of innovation. He visited the co-creation hub in Yaba, Lagos. No fewer than 18 Nigerians are currently working at Facebook worldwide, all holding senior positions.
