Buhari holds crucial security meeting with Osinbajo, service chiefs
President Muhammadu Buhari is holding a meeting what an insider described as a crucial security meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and service Chiefs in the council chambers in Abuja.
The service chiefs arrived Aso Rock and headed to the council chamber for the meeting which commenced about 10,00am.
This is coming barely 24 hours after there was much heat about the state of insecurity in the nation. Some senators called on the President to resign chief of which was Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives also asked the service chiefs to resign or be booted out. The lawmakers, across party lines, were unanimous in condemning the poor performance of the service chiefs.
In attendance were the Vice President Yemi Osinabjo SAN,Service Chiefs, Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Defence, Brig General Bashir Salihi Magashi, NSA Maj Gen Babagana Monguno, Minister of Police Affairs, Alh Muhammadu M. Dingyadi, SGF Mr Boss Mustapha, Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, DG DSS, Yusuf Magaji Bichi, and DG NIA Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.
No details were given but it was linked to the incident of yesterday in the National Assembly where both chambers called the president’s attention to the need to rejig the nation’s security strategy.
