Breaking News: Access Bank MD, Wigwe, Released By EFCC
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released the managing director of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, The Political Economist can authoritatively report.
On Friday, officials of EFCC visited the headquarters of Access Bank Plc seeking clarification from the bank’s officials. The Commission invited Mr. Herbert Wigwe for questioning and released him after a couple of hours.
Wigwe who has since rejoined his family, close associates of the banker said, will be at his office on Monday to resume duties as the gaffer of the bank.
“Our MD is back and he will be back to his beat on Monday. All banking activities have continued without any disruptions since he was invited”, the source said.
The EFCC had taken its investigation into the arms procurement scandal further to the 2015 presidential campaign funds of former President Goodluck Jonathan, with the fresh move a result of alleged discoveries that more party members received funds from the office of the National Security Adviser, specifically for the party’s presidential campaign.
