Benue Police Command conveys Constables in a truck: Nigerians angry
Nigerians have continued to rebuke authorities of Benue Police Command for the inhuman treatment meted out to Constables who have just passed out from the popular Oji River Police Training College in Enugu State.
Whereas other commands ferried Constables from their command in buses, Benue Police Command sent a truck to convey policemen who had to cramp themselves like animals in a season of Covid-19 social distancing protocol. None of the constables wore masks and none observed social distancing as they were all bunched in the over-filled truck.
In a video trending on social media, some constables were seen standing in the already jam-packed truck giving room for possible spread of the Covid-19 infection.
Oji River Police College prides itself as a place for discipline and integrity.
In 2017, the authorities of the college suspended five recruits for indiscipline.
The five were among the 966 fresh intakes of 2016 class who trained since Dec. 31, 2016 and passed out in 2017.
Nigerians who reacted to the current incident urged the Inspector General of Police to probe the incident. They said policemen of any rank deserve to be treated fairly and with dignity.
