Top politician and a former Commissioner for Higher Education in Delta State, Joan Amaechi Mrapkpor, popularly known as ‘Ada Anioma’, has been released by her abductors barely nine days after she was abducted by unknown gunmen.

Though not officially announced by the police but informed sources close to the family told Political Economist NG that she was released today after the police triggered a nationwide manhunt for the kidnappers.

She is said to be receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital at the time of filing this report.

Natives of Ubulu-Uku, Aniocha south LGA of Delta state, her hometown, gave kudos to the police and other security agencies who worked night and day to track the abductors of the evangelist and politician.

A source told Political Economist NG that since her abduction on Tuesday, July 30, from her ministry, King Jesus and I, while she was at the altar ministering, prayers have been said continually night and day, adding “for that very fact and for the fact that the beasts desecrated the altar of God by whisking her away from the altar, it was only a matter of time that God’s wrath will be visited on the kidnappers.”

“We thank the God and the police. The police showed professionalism and diligence by keeping all their findings under wraps until they secured her release. God will bless them because Ada Anioma has been a beacon of light and hope for Ubulu-Uku people,” the source said.

Mrapkpor, who is a former member of the Federal House of Representatives, was abducted right inside the church, located off Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS) in Asaba, Delta State capital city.

An eyewitness said: “there was commotion right inside her church close to police headquarters, DBS Road.

“We all ran due to the heavy gun shots. It just happened about a few minutes ago, one aide shot dead and a security personnel unconscious now.”

The gunmen took to her the River Niger waterfront, burnt their vehicle and escaped in a waiting speed boat amid gunshots.

The video of the kidnap had all the trappings of a Hollywood movie, an indication of a well planned exercise undertaken by experienced criminals.

No motive has been imputed, political or commercial, but informed sources said arrests have been made by the police as investigations continued.
