Alleged billion naira heist lands ex-Kwara governor, Ahmed, in EFCC net
Almost five years after leaving office as governor in 2019, former Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed, is being interrogated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged billion-naira misdemeanor during his time as governor of the state.
The ex-governor reported at the Ilorin office of the anti-graft agency on Monday morning on the invitation of the agency.
At the time of filing this report, he was still in the office of the EFCC.
Ahmed was governor of Kwara between May 2011 and May 2019 and was succeeded by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
Recall that in May 2021, he was invited to the EFCC office in Abuja for alleged diversion of funds to the tune of N9 billion during his tenure as governor of the state, and when he served as the Commissioner for Finance under former Governor Bukola Saraki.
