Akpabio at 61: Tinubu, Lawan, others celebrate ‘uncommon leader’
President Bola Tinubu has joined top Nigerians to celebrate the President of the 10th Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on his 61st birthday, describing him as an ‘uncommon leader.’
A statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, described Akpabio as a political leader whose antecedents and achievements continued to attract recognition at home and abroad.
Tinubu noted the outstanding leadership qualities of the former Governor of Akwa Ibom and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, who became a Governor at 45 after serving as a Commissioner in three different ministries.
He thanked Akpabio for his loyalty, dedication, and commitment, adding that Akpabio’s achievements was most significantly exemplified by the uncommon transformation of Akwa Ibom into one of the most vibrant and frontline states in the country.
The immediate past President of the Senate, Sen. Ahmad Lawan (APC-Yobe) also felicitated the President of Senate, Sen.Godswill Akpabio on his 61st birthday celebration.
Lawan, in a birthday message to Akpabio in Abuja on Saturday, extoled the Senate President for his remarkable achievements throughout his political career.
He commended Akpabio’s efforts in championing legislative initiatives, and lauded his unwavering determination in advocating for good governance.
The First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday in Uyo at a grand reception for Akpabio celebrated the Senate President on his 61st birthday.
The first lady, while speaking during a grand reception to mark Akpabio’s 61st birthday, described him as “an extraordinary democrat”.
She prayed for Akpabio and commended him for the impact he had made in the lives of the people of Akwa Ibom people, first as a governor, and now as President of the Senate.
“This event is not just a birthday celebration but an occasion to reflect on Akpabio’s contributions to the growth of democracy and his developmental strides while serving as the governor of Akwa Ibom.
“Under his leadership, Akwa Ibom state witnessed improved infrastructure and human capital development. He has also displayed exemplary leadership as Senate President.”
