Absence of witness stalls Saraki’s CCT case, matter adjourned indefinitely
Following the application by the Prosecution Counsel, the ongoing trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki on false assets declaration at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has been adjourned indefinitely.
In the application sent to the Court’s Registry, it was learnt Wednesday that the lead prosecution Counsel, Mr. Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), anchored his prayer to the prosecution witness, Mr. Michael Wetkas, who he explained is currently under cross-examination by the defence in another case, to testify in the ongoing money laundering trial of former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido.
Hearing in the former Governor Lamido’s suit which is before Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, had been stalled hearing severally, in the past due to the EFCC’s witness (Wetkas’s) persistent absence in court.
The CCT Chairman, Justice Danladi Umar is yet to announce the date of next hearing.
