The DBI chief used the opportunity to reaffirm that the DBI is in the process of engaging in an affiliate program with the ABU to initiate emerging technology-focused courses to include artificial intelligence, nano technology, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, among others.

The President/CEO of the Digital Bridge Institute (DBI), Prof. Mohammed Ajiya led the DBI team to celebrate with the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) for attaining excellent strides during its participation in an international ICT skills competition organized by Huawei Technologies and held in year 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Prof. Ajiya in his remarks during the award ceremony in honour of the students commended the management of the University for upholding the scholarship and outstanding strides that the ABU is known for.

He expressed his excitement for being part of such a novel event and commended the management of the university under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kabir Bala. He congratulated the students and encouraged them to keep up their excellent performance to become game changers in the evolving ICT industry.

Prof. Ajiya stated that the DBI as a training Institute established by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is focused on capacity building and self-sustaining skills in the areas of Telecoms, ICT and emerging technologies.

He noted that through the multi campus access of the DBI in all the geopolitical zones with residential facilities, (Abuja, Lagos, Kano, Asaba Enugu and Yola), DBI has been able to provide cutting edge access to skills development and enhancement in Nigeria

Prof. Ajiya noted that ABU being one of the oldest institutions in Nigeria has continued to produce distinguished members of the society locally and internationally as captains of industries, inventors and strategic administrators and this additional feat is a recurrent decimal in the ABU.

He noted that such courses will be a blend of purely academic research and field professionals which will produce hybrid graduates at undergraduate and postgraduate levels to drive a sustainable digital economy which is the focus of the  Minister of Communications and Digital Economy,  Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami.

The event was well attended with representation from key stakeholders in the Telecoms and ICT industry. The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy was represented by the Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, Prof. Muhammad Abubakar while the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, was represented by Mallam Mohammed Danwawu, Deputy Zonal Head of the Kano Office of the NCC.

The DBI’s delegation was led by the President/CEO, Prof. Mohammed Ajiya, accompanied by Head of Administration, Alhaji Hassan Ado Faskari and the Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Akin Ogunlade
