The dream is on as Jamie Vardy scored twice to give Leicester a 2-0 victory away to Sunderland in a match that helped to solidify their Premier League title hopes.

Vardy scored in each half of a game that kept the travelling Leicester fans on edge as they had to wait till the 66^th minute to get their first goal. Vardy now has 21 goals tally in the Premier League this season.

The hosts’ best chance fell to substitute Jack Rodwell  but he scuffed it to add more relegation pressure on Sam Alladyce’s men.

By this victory, it means that three wins from their last five games will guarantee Leicester their first ever top-flight title, while Sunderland remain four points from safety. Should Leicester win, it will be the first time ever a team that barely escaped relegation the previous year would hit the summit of the competitive Premier League.

Foxes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel said there is “no pressure” on his side in the run-in and there were certainly no signs of nerves at the Stadium of Light, even after going ahead in the 66th minute.

England internationals Danny Drinkwater and Vardy combined for the striker’s 20th league goal of the season, the first Leicester striker to reach the milestone in the top flight since Gary Lineker in the 1984-85 season. His 21st in injury time was superb, leaving Patrick van Aanholt floundering before going round Vito Mannone to slip the ball into an open net.

Claudio Ranieri’s men have now won their past five league games with conceding, picking up their 14th clean sheet of the campaign. They have lost just three of their 33 league games so far.
