EFCC Arrests, Detains Abba Moro over Bloody Immigration Recruitment Scam
The cry of the blood of job-seeking Nigerians who died on March 15, 2014 at a recruitment centre for Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) job may have reached the heavens for redress as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested and detained a former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, a former Permanent Secretary, Fatima Bamidele and a director in the ministry identified as Ibrahim, over 2014 immigration recruitment scandal.
Moro who was minister at the time of the bloody incident that claimed 18 lives has escaped sanction since the incident in spite of cries from Nigerians and families of the deceased for a thorough investigation of the recruitment exercise which also witnessed extortion of the applicants nationwide.
An EFCC source hinted that the suspects may be arraigned in court on Tuesday.
Soon after the tragedy, several Nigerians called for the resignation or dismissal of Mr. Moro and the Comptroller-General of Immigration, David Parradang, as well as their criminal prosecution for involuntary homicide but their pleas fell on deaf ears.
