Xenophobia: FG takes decisive measures, summons S/Africa High Commissioner
The minister of foreign affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, is expected to meet the South Africa high commissioner, Bobby Moroe, on Tuesday.
This is coming as the Federal Government has summoned South Africa envoy over the recent xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.
A senior ministry official, Kimiebi Ebenfa, confirmed the meeting.
The meeting is expected to hold at the headquarters of the ministry of foreign affairs by 11 o’clock today.
Onyema had earlier on Monday vowed the Federal Government would take decisive measures following the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and their businesses in South Africa.
He described the news of the attack as ‘sickening and depressing.’
According to Onyeama in a twitter message: “Received sickening and depressing news of continued burning and looting of Nigerian shops and premises in South Africa by mindless criminals with ineffective police protection. Enough is enough. We will take definitive measures”.
