Boundary Commission to Construct Road to Link Trade Routes Between Nigeria, Cameroon
The National Boundary Commission (NBC) is to establish trade routes between Nigeria and Cameroon, the Director-General, Dr Ahmad Bose has said.
Bose gave the indication on Wednesday during a courtesy visit on Gov. Mohammed Bindow of Adamawa in Yola.
He said the commission had already identified a trade route in the state from Jabi-Lamba, through Wuro-Bolki to Cameroon.
“This move is to integrate trade cooperation among border communities. Our team is in the state to plant beacons between Nigeria and Cameroon borders. The beacons will show clear demarcation between the two countries,’’ he said.
Bose recalled that five officials of the commission were killed while on their way to plant the beacons in the past.
He, however, said that both Nigeria and Cameroon had provided security cover for the job.
The director-general commended Bindow for hospitality and support to the commission.
Responding, Bindow said that the construction of Jabi-Lamba to Wuro-Bolki road is to link up trans-border trade.
He assured the commission of every support to ensure it succeeded. (NAN)
