Seven Die, Four NEMA Officials, 16 Others Injured as Bomb Explodes in Yola IDP Camp
By last check, no fewer than seven persons lost their lives and 20 persons injured in the bomb blast that occurred in Malkohi Internally Displaced Persons camp Yola, Adamawa state.
Among the injured, seven were treated and discharged while 13 persons including four NEMA officials are still receiving treatment at Federal Medical Centre, Yola.
The bomb, which was planted inside a tent, went off Friday morning at around 10: 50am.
According to NEMA, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was detonated on Friday morning at Malkohi camp in Yola.
Confirming this via its twitter handle, NEMA said policemen have been drafted to the scene and the area condoned off.
Security agents were Friday evening combing the arena and an inquest has begun to unveil how the bomb was planted inside the IDP camp without the knowledge of security authorities manning the camp. A theory linked the bomb to Boko Haram recruits inside in the camp who may have infiltrated the ranks of the IDPs.
