Poland security authorities are finalizing documentation for the extradition of a Nigerian man who is wanted in the United States for offences bordering of cyber-fraud and online extortion. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had been on the trail of the Nigerian over a stretch of months. They have kept the identity of the alleged fraudster secret and co-opted Interpol into the manhunt for the man believed to have creamed as much as $7 million from people across the globe.

Poland’s police  had on Wednesday announced the arrest of the Nigerian who is wanted in the United States for alleged cyberfraud and extortion done over the internet totaling an estimated $7 million.

The Police Central Bureau of Investigation said in a communique last Wednesday that the 27-year-old Nigerian was tracked down in the southwestern city of Wroclaw, as a result of cooperation with the FBI and Interpol, which had circulated a warrant for the man. The police raid took him by surprise, the communique said.

The man is suspected of banking fraud, extortion and theft of online banking access data.

Polish authorities he faces extradition to the United States in a matter of days when proper profiling and documentation are completed.
