Major General Adamu Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, has urged troops to always be vigilant and alert in their duty post.
According to a statement by Col. Sagir Musa, Deputy Director of Public Relations 82 Division, the GOC gave the directive during a one day visit to 13 Brigade Calabar on Friday.
The GOC also urged commanders and senior officers to take decisive actions against insecurity in border areas.
“You should also build co-ordination and synergy among all the security agencies such as the Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Security Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria Police deployed to the area,’’ Abubakar was quoted as saying.
The GOC used the opportunity to inspect renovated soldiers living accommodation, newly replaced blown off roofs, NDDC erosion control work at the Golf Section and the emerging massive erosion sites in 146 Battalion Calabar (a sub-unit under 13 Brigade).
Abubakar and his entourage also visited Ikang border post and Ikang Jetty in Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State, where he interacted with troops and the local Commander of the Jetty, Maj. A. Mohammed.
The GOC commended the Commander of 13 Brigade, Calabar, Brig.-Gen. Ismaila Isa, for the quality of work and their successful completion within a short period.
