February 12, 2018
The Margi people of Borno and Adamawa have commended President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring the release of 10 Lassa women and girls kidnapped by the Boko Haram on June 14, 2017.
The women were kidnapped by the terrorists when they ambushed a military/police convoy on Damboa road, near Maiduguri
A statement issued by Mr A.A. Gadzama on behalf of the Margi communities in both states, praised the president for providing “inspirational leadership’’ that led to the release of the women.
They also commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Saqique Abubakar and Director-General, DSS, Mr Lawal Daura, for their various roles in the women’s freedom.
“We also appreciate the contributions of those who worked tirelessly behind the scene to secure the release of our women and daughters.’’
The Margi people also appreciated the roles played by religious leaders in the release of the women.
They pledged their support for the Federal Government and the military, who they said were working tirelessly to ensure the release of other captives held by the insurgents.
