There are currently five engineering and construction companies with open disclosed Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, FCPA,-related investigations. The FCPA is the United States of America legal tool that deals with corrupt practices in foreign countries. It has unearthed major scams around the world from FIFA bribery saga to dirty deals in the messy oil and gas world.

The companies, according to investigations, are based in Brazil, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and Canada. A major construction company in Nigeria (name withheld) is among the companies being investigated.

The following countries have been named in the investigations: Libya, Mozambique, Uganda, Peru, Algeria, Congo, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Venezuela, Nigeria and Argentina.

Nigeria has in the past featured in several FCPA-related scandals some of which certain persons were prosecuted and convicted in United  States and Germany. Halliburton and Siemens of Germany officials had been convicted for bribing Nigerians to secure mouth-watering contracts in the past.
