Professor Momoh, Electoral Institute DG, is dead
Professor of Political Science, Abubakar Momoh, the Director-General of the National Electoral Institute is dead. He died in Abuja. An erudite scholar, Momoh was Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Lagos State University, Ojo before he was appointed the CEO of the Institute of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He hailed from Auchi, Estako West in Edo State.
The news of his death was announced through a WhatsApp group, which has the spokesman of the Pro-National Democratic Coalition, Wale Okunniyi, as its Administrator.
Momoh died in Abuja and is expected to be buried in Auchi, Edo State later on Monday, according to Islamic rites.
He was appointed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the DG of TEI on July 22, 2013, but effective August 1, 2013.
He holds a Ph.D in Political Theory.
