Osinbajo may accent to Appropriation bill next week
Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has received the 2017 Appropriation Bill from the National Assembly, eight days after the lawmakers passed the bill.
The Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Ita Enang, disclosed this to State House Correspondents Friday.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Acting President on Media, Mr Laolu Akande, also confirmed the development via his Twitter handle.
A Presidency source told our reporter that Osinbajo may accent to the bill next week “after consultations with appropriate cabinet members”.
Asked if recuperating President Buhari would be briefed on the bill, the source said “absolutely”. The National Assembly had on Thursday last week passed the budget, five months after President Muhammadu Buhari presented it before the lawmakers.
The lawmakers, however, increased the budget size to N7.44tn, from the N7.29tn proposed by the President.
There has been drama over who accents to the bill but our source cleared the air, saying there is only one Presidency and “the acting President would do the appropriate when the time comes”.
