13 activists to Buhari: You are sick, go on medical vacation; slams handlers for lying about President’s health
Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Femi Falana and 12 other rights activists have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to proceed on a medical vacation to attend to his ill-health.
In a statement, jointly signed by Falana as well as Professor Jibrin Ibrahim, Debo Adeniran, Dr. Chris Kwaja, Y. Z. Ya’u, Chom Bagu, Olanrewaju Suraju, Ezenwa Nwagwu, Anwal Musa Rafsanjani, David Ugolor, ‘Sina Odugbemi, Muhammed Attah and Adetokunbo Mumuni, said when the president returned from his medical vacation to the United Kingdom, he disclosed that he had never been that sick in his entire life.
The rights activists said: “Due to the apparent deterioration in the president’s condition, he has neither been seen in public in the last one week nor attended the last two meetings of the Federal Executive Council. His absence at the last Jumat service in the Villa has fuelled further speculations and rumours on President Buhari’s medical condition.”
The activists frowned at the uncoordinated regular briefing on the actual state of the health of the president by government officials as they labour to assure Nigerians that there was no need for apprehension over the matter.
“As we join the Nigerian people of goodwill to pray for a speedy recovery of President Buhari, we are compelled to advise him to heed the advice of his personal physicians by taking a rest to attend to his health without any further delay,” the statement said.
