Edo 2024: Withdraw Now, Youths Tell Okpebholo Over No-card Discovery

Senator Monday Okpebholo

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has been asked to withdraw forthwith from the race.

National Coordinator of Youth Advocate for Good Governance, Comrade Andrew Enantomhen, made the call on Thursday. He argued that following the discovery that the APC candidate is not a registered voter in Edo State by SaharaReporters which has now led to the trending hashtag #VoterNotFound, the honourable thing for Senator Okpebholo is to withdraw from the race and go and sort out his voter registration issue first and foremost.

Commenting further, Enantomhen said the APC already shot itself in the foot by registering someone who is not a registered voter in Edo State as its candidate for the Edo State governorship election.

“As it stands, the APC will not be able to challenge the election in court if and surely when they lose the election. This is because, to challenge an election outcome, you must have voted in the same election too. In this instance, the APC candidate by virtue of the information on the INEC website will not be voting in the forthcoming Edo State Governorship election since he is not a registered voter in Edo State ahead of the September Governorship election,” Enantomhen said.
