Wike and Sim Fubara meet in Aso Rock, shake hands
The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara; and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, both met at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday and shook hands amid exchange of pleasantries.
This is coming barely 24 hours after an upheaval in Rivers House of Assembly which precipitated in the removal of the Speaker and installation of a new Speaker, Rt Hon Edison Ehie by members said to be loyal to the governor.
The upheaval followed months of cold war between Wike and Fubara over who controls the affairs of the state, though Wike denies it, neither does the governor openly own up to it.
An impeachment proceeding launched against Fubara by some members of the Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday failed, raising red flag as to the health of the polity in the state.
Fubara and Wike were said to be in the Villa for a meeting of the Nigeria Police Council, a constitutional body that oversees the organisation and administration of the Nigeria Police Force and chaired by President Bola Tinubu.
