EFCC arrests, detains Bala Mohammed, former FCT minister
A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed, has joined the club of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s men in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Mohammed one of the confidants of President Jonathan was said to have been arrested late Monday by the anti-graft agency.
Reasons for his arrest were sketchy but an EFCC source linked it to the on-going investigation of Jonathan’s men and how they allegedly spent public funds to prosecute the 2015 general election. Mohammed, a former senator hails from Bauchi State, a stronghold of the PDP but he and politicians from the state failed to deliver as the APC clinched the governorship election.
EFCC sources said he will join other ex-President’s men currently cooling their heels in the custody of the anti-corruption agency. Unconfirmed sources said he may be arraigned Tuesday.
