Obanikoro arrives Nigeria, submits self to EFCC
Former Minister of Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has expectedly reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) upon arrival from the United States Monday morning. He arrived at the EFCC shortly before 1.00 pm in company of family members and friends.
Head of Media and Publicity of EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that the former minister being probed for alleged misappropriation of the sum of N4.7 billion arms cash reported to the commission Monday afternoon.
In the wake of investigations of the arms deal that has entangled many senior military officers, serving and retired, the EFCC traced huge sums of money in the accounts of a firm, Sylvan McNamara,  belonging  to two of Obanikoro’s sons –  Babajide Obanikoro and Gbolahan Obanikoro.
The agency alleged that the sum of N4.745bn was paid into the Diamond Bank account of Sylvan McNamara .
Sources at the anti-graft agency said the minister was being interrogated at the time of this report but there were strong indications that he might be detained beyond Monday night.
