FG releases identities of the 21 freed Chibok girls, Nigerians applaud Buhari
After taking them through medical examination, documentation and counseling, the Federal Government Thursday published the names of the 21 Chibok school girls released by Boko Haram.
Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, released the names on Thursday after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo met with them. The release of the girls was facilitated by officials of the International Red Cross and the Swiss government following months of interface and brokerage for peace between the insurgents and the federal government. The 21 girls were among the over 200 girls abducted in a gruesome raid of Chibok girls secondary school in 2014, an action that swirled global reaction and empathy.
The release of the girls has raked up accolades for the Buhari government from different especially from the vociferous BringBackOurGirls group which had for months championed the cause to push the relevant authorizes to bring back the girls.
