Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, the president, African Development Bank (AfDB), says the African Investment Forum has secured $15.6 billion of investment interests for construction of the Lagos-Abidjan highway corridor.
Adesina in a series of tweets on Friday said the investment would strengthen regional trade and integration in West Africa by linking the hinterlands of different Participating Member Countries (PMCs).
He noted that, “Together with President Alassane Ouattara of Cote d’Ivoire we are focused on expanding resources for the African Development Fund (ADF-16) replenishment. He gave very strong support for ADF to leverage its equity on the market, to deliver more financing to Africa”.
The Lagos-Abidjan highway interconnects the capital cities of five Western African States, covering approximately 1,028 km and eight border crossings.
