Facebook Founder, Zuckerberg, arrives Lagos, meets the media, techies
Nigeria’s rising profile in ICT got yet another boost with the arrival in Lagos Tuesday of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerburg . In the spirit of business, he paid a visit to CoCreation hub, a tech incubation centre, in Yaba, Lagos.
He will address the press Wednesday where he is expected to explain his interest in African market as well as douse anxiety on the new privacy policy of WhatsApp in which it intends to share data of users with Facebook.
Zuckerberg was said to have arrived from Rome where he was visiting with his wife, Priscilla.
The Zuckerbergs are interested in expanding their presence in Africa through the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative, which invested $24 million in Andela, a startup which trains African tech engineers. Andela has campuses in Lagos and Nairobi.
Zuckerberg is expected to visit the campus. He is also expected to participate at the Facebook’s developer workshop which commences Wednesday.
By this visit, Zuckerberg joins other tech billionaires like Bill Gates who have visited Nigeria.
