An Upper Area Court sitting in Jos on Wednesday sentenced three boys to one month imprisonment each for being in possession of six wraps of cannabis.

The police charged a 17, 16 and 14-year-old with conspiracy, being in possession of hard drugs, house breaking and theft.

Magistrates Ghazali Adam and Hyacinth Dolnaan, who sentenced the minors after they pleaded guilty to the offence , however gave them an option to pay a fine of N30,000 each.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr. Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on Feb. 24, at the ‘C ‘ Division Police station by leaders in the Area.

The prosecutor said that the convicts were in the habit of breaking into houses and stealing.

During police investigation they were caught with six wraps of cannabis, three knives, a laptop and other items.

The prosecutor said that the offence is punishable under the provisions of sections 59 (2) , 272 and 336 of the Plateau Penal Code law.(NAN)
