FIFA Women World Cup: 10-woman Nigeria hold off Canada 0-0
Nigeria’s Super Falcons on Friday drew goalless with Canada’s women national team in Melbourne in their opening Group B fixture at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup holding in Australia and New Zealand.
Nigeria’s goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was the star of the match as she saved a penalty that could have gifted Canada victory.
Canada are the Olympics champion and they showed mastery of the game tactically.
Nigeria was however reduced to 10 women after a red card for serious rough tackle by Nigeria’s defensive midfielder.
