We’ll reward you for information on bandits’ activities – Niger Govt promises
Feb. 10, 2022
The Niger State Government has promised to reward any person with credible intelligence that can lead to the arrest of bandits terrorising parts of the state.
Mrs. Mary Noel-Berje, the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Abubakar Sani-Bello, said this when he met with newsmen in Minna on Thursday.
Noel-Berje, however, did not give details of the reward.
She said the state government had established a situation/control room where intelligence should be reported as part of efforts to promptly respond to bandits’ activities.
According to her, communities in Shiroro, Munya, Rafi, Paikoro, Mashegu, Kontagora, Mariga and Magama have been ravaged by bandits.
She said a vigilance corps bill had been signed into law to give the group legal backing to carry arms to complement conventional security agencies in the fight against terrorism.
Noel-Berje also said the government had supported the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) with relief materials and called for support from individuals and corporate organisations.
She said the government was saddened by the security situation in the affected communities but was working to address it. (NAN)
